Solution 37255: Troubleshooting a TI-Nspire or TI-Nspire CAS Clickpad or Touchpad Calculator That Will Not Turn On or Function Properly.
What troubleshooting steps can I try if the TI-Nspire Family Clickpad/Touchpad calculator will not turn on or function properly?
Please Note: Information on battery precautions and replacement can be found in the case entitled "Instructions for Replacing Batteries In a TI Graphing Calculator".
Additional Note: For the TI-Nspire Clickpad and TI-Nspire Touchpad, you need to use the TI-Nspire keypad and not the TI-84 Plus keypad to be able to attempt the resets below:
TI-Nspire / TI-Nspire CAS with Clickpad:
Please Note: Ensure that there are no buttons that are stuck down below the keypad and please ensure that the reset button located on the back is not stuck down below the bottom case. If it appears stuck, use a paper clip to move it back into position. It is very important to not use an object that can leave behind debris, such as a pencil.
1) Remove the keypad or the battery door (for TI-Nspire CAS Clickpad) and remove at least 1 battery from each column of batteries. After 2-5 seconds, reinsert the batteries and turn the calculator on. This will cause the calculator to reboot the operating system.
2) Remove the keypad or the battery door (for TI-Nspire CAS Clickpad) and remove at least 1 battery from each column of batteries. After 2-5 seconds, reinsert the batteries and leave the calculator off (do not turn on and then back off). Hold down [home] [enter] [P], and while holding these keys, press [on]. Release all keys at the same time. The calculator will boot up as in the previous reset, but will display a menu with the following options:
** The [home] key is located at the top right of the TI-Nspire keypad and has a picture of a house on it
1. Cancel - The most non-intrusive reset option; no changes are made, the calculator restarts.
2. Delete Operating System – The operating system will be deleted without deleting any documents.
3. Delete Document Folder Contents – This will delete the user’s documents, but will not delete the OS.
4. Complete Format – This will delete the OS and all documents for a total erase of memory.
3) Please try options 1, 2, 3, and 4 in that order.
4) TI-Nspire family model maintenance options 2 and 4 from the troubleshooting steps above require that the OS be reinstalled. The reset menu will only display if the calculator is off and batteries have been removed/replaced as described above.

Additional Note: If the calculator is not turning on, attempt to charge the calculator by connecting to a computer or wall adapter, if you have not already. If you are using a wall charger, make sure you are using the TI wall charger or other UL-certified USB charger rated for at least 1 amp (usually written as “1A” or “1000 mA”). To determine whether your charger is UL-certified, flip it over to the inside, and read the label. Look for the UL stamp, and confirm that it states that it is 1000 mA or higher.
1) Verify if AAA batteries are installed and if so remove them. The calculator with the TI-Rechargeable battery installed does not require AAA batteries and may not operate as expected with them installed.

6) If the calculator is not turning on, remove the battery door from the back of your calculator, disconnect the TI Rechargeable Battery, and then reconnect it. Ensure that the connector is pushed in all the way, and that the wires are not trapped or pinched by the battery door then attempt to charge the calculator for 1-2 hours, to see if it is now holding a charge.
