How can I find the length of a vector using a TI-89 family, TI-92 family or Voyage 200 graphing calculator?
The norm() command is used to find the length of a vector. The norm() command can be found under the CATALOG. Please see the below instructions for finding the length of a vector. The syntax for vectors is [v1,v2]:
Example: Find the length of vector [50,180].
Please Note: The calculator should be set to itd default mode settings. To do this press [2nd] followed by [6]. Then press [F1], choose Default and press [ENTER] until the "Defaults Set" message appears.
1) On the Home screen, press [CATALOG] [6] and scroll down to norm().
2) Press [ENTER]. On the Voyage 200 and TI-92 family press [2nd] [CATALOG] [6].
3) Enter [50,180] and add the closing parenthesis. The screen display should be as follows:
