Solution 14289: Backing Up the Memory of a TI-73 Family Calculator by Saving to Another TI-73 Family Model.
How do I back up the memory from one TI-73 or TI-73 Explorer to another?
The TI-73 family calculator includes two types of memory: RAM (Random Access Memory) and F-ROM (Flash Read Only Memory). RAM includes all lists, programs, variables and equations. F-ROM includes software applications (APPS), such as the CBL/CBR APP. The instructions below display how to back up the memory from one TI-73 or TI-73 Explorer to another.
To copy (and overwrite) the exact contents of RAM in the sending calculator to the memory of the receiving calculator, follow these steps:
On the receiving calculator:
• Press [APPS] [ENTER] to select Link.
• Press the right arrow key to select RECEIVE, then [ENTER]. The device will display “Waiting…”.
On the sending calculator:
• Press [APPS] [ENTER] to select Link.
• Press the up arrow key once to select Back Up from the SEND menu, and press [ENTER].
• As a safety check to prevent accidental loss of memory, the message MEMORYBACKUP is displayed when the receiving unit receives notice of a backup.
• Press [ENTER] to select TRANSMIT and begin the backup transmission.
• To prevent the backup and return to the Link SEND menu, press [2] to select Quit.
When the backup is complete, both the sending calculator and the receiving calculator display a confirmation screen. If a transmission error occurs during a backup, the receiving calculator’s memory is reset.
